Kelsey Plowman

Kelsey recalls coming home from preschool, and in her excitement over her new ability to count she was proud to tell her family that there were SIX of them! She never expected to be corrected, but the next words she heard were, "Actually, there are only five in our family...you don't really belong here." A few days later she was moved to a new foster family. This is one of Kelsey's many life experiences and challenges that enrich her down-to-earth songwriting.

It was evident from an early age that Kelsey had music in her. She has been playing ever since she was six years old and was left alone in a room with a piano, and was able to plunk out "Here Comes the Bride" by ear!

Kelsey later went on to achieve a grade 8 level of Royal Conservatory in piano. Just out of high school, she travelled for two years with a music and drama team, performing in Siberia, England, Belize, and North America. In those two years, she learned the guitar. While in Siberia, Kelsey had the experience of singing infront of the Russian army, which led to her having to appear infront of a Russian judge in a Courtroom. Following where God has led her, has put her in places she never thought she would ever end up.

Kelsey has also had the privilege of opening for Hokus Pick, RemedyDrive, and has appeared as a guest on 100 Huntley Street and Tribal Trails. In May 2005, Kelsey was selected with 14 others across Canada to compete at the Shai Aspiring Artist showcase in Toronto, and advanced to the finals. She also made it through to the gold ticket round of Candian Idol 2007. That same year, Kelsey finaled at the Gospel Music Association week for her songwriting. In 2008 she joined up with Venture Teams International as an artist in residence. Now she's putting together her debut recording project which is to be released fall 2010!

"It's been a lengthly journey. Some would say a bunch of dead ends. But each moment has shaped me, pushed me further, given me clarity, broken and strengthened me, and taught me. It's not how I pictured, but I wouldn't trade it. Cause I am learning in life...there is priceless value in the journey!" ~ Kelsey
